LAS VEGAS, NV – JUNE 20: Actor Jim Belushi arrives at the 2018 NHL Awards presented by Hulu at the … [+]
A prominent actor known for his numerous films, TV and musical performances, Jim Belushi is also one of the legal cannabis industry’s most high-profile celebrity proponents/practitioners. Since 2015, he has owned and operated the 90-acre Belushi’s Farm, which specifically cultivates marijuana under the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program. The experience has unleashed a host of challenges and rewards, which Belushi will share this spring when he delivers the keynote address at the Cannabis Conference 2020 at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The three-day event, which will be held from April 21-23, 2020, is presented by GIE Media’s Cannabis Business Times, Cannabis Dispensary and Hemp Grower magazines.
On his participation in the event, Belushi expressed unbounded enthusiasm. “Every time I cultivate the land, I get pulled more and more into the medicine and the joy of this work,” he said in a public statement. “My experience has truly changed me as a man, and I’m looking forward to sharing what I have learned from my amazing journey with this year’s Cannabis Conference attendees.”
Noelle Skodzinski, editorial director for Cannabis Conference, and Cannabis Business Times, Cannabis Dispensary and Hemp Grower magazines, is delighted that Belushi will keynote the conference. In a public statement, she noted that Belushi’s “passion for the plant, and for the health and economic potential it holds for society is aligned with so many of our attendees and with our mission. Our audience of plant-touching-business owners and operators will surely benefit from his experiences growing cannabis in the Oregon market, his plans and hopes for the future, as well as his wisdom and humor.”
The conference, which debuted in 2017, is expected to pull in over 3,000 attendees from 40 countries, according to a press release “and bring together dozens of the industry’s leading voices to address the biggest opportunities and challenges facing the legal cannabis market.”
Among this industry leaders and experts scheduled to speak at the event are: Dan Sutton, CEO/founder, Tantalus Labs; David Bernard-Perron, vice president of growing operations, The Green Organic Dutchman; Dr. Janna Beckerman, professor and extension plant pathologist, Purdue University; Scottie Gordon, vice president of licensing & regulatory affairs, Curaleaf, Inc.; and Claudio Miranda, co-founder, Guild Enterprises. In addition to Belushi’s keynote, another highlight of this year’s event includes its educational program, which will feature a new track focusing on the cultivation and sale of hemp and hemp-derived products. There will also be sessions on successful cultivation and business operations as well as industry perspectives on retail management. The educational program was developed by the Cannabis Conference 2020 advisory board comprised of professional cultivators, retailers and industry leaders in partnership with the editorial teams at Cannabis Business Times, Cannabis Dispensary and Hemp Grower.
The expo, a mainstay at all conferences, will put the spotlight on technologies, solutions and services for cannabis cultivation and dispensary professionals.
