Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare has had a pretty great first season so far, with new maps and Operators, new modes and more all added to the game along with the Season 1 Battle Pass.
Unlike past Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare has no premium map packs with all playable content free for all players. Only cosmetic items such as Operator skins, charms and emotes are purchasable with real money (using Call of Duty Points). A seasonal Battle Pass is also for sale.
Now, Infinity Ward has announced an extension of Season 1 by just over a week. The developer announced that new challenges, modes, playlists and other items will be available in the coming weeks, including an unlockable Crossbow weapon. Here’s the original post:
“We’re extending Season One!
“Over the next few weeks, a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game Challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover. To make room for all that activity, we are making a one-time extension of Season One – it’s now ending on February 11. During that time, there will be 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, and get you ready for an exciting Season Two!”
It isn’t clear when exactly Season 2 will begin. There will likely be some gap between Season 1’s end-date and the start of Season 2, though we should know more on that front soon.
So far, I’m still really loving Modern Warfare. It’s one of my favorite Call Of Duty games of all time, striking just the right balance across the many different modes and maps. I know the community adores griping about the game—complaining about Call of Duty is a time-honored tradition—but I just can’t bring myself to agree. I’ve been having a blast with this one since launch and I’m excited for each new content drop.
