It took untold thousands of person hours, six days of manic spreadsheets and one mesmerizing, evolving map, but we’re here. The Destiny 2 community has solved the Corridors of Time puzzle and unlocked the reward. So if you want to experience the fruits of this community’s labors, head on into the Corridors of Time and follow this path:
Clover, Diamond, Snake, Clover, Plus, Plus, Hex, Hex, Hex, Plus, Diamond, Plus, Snake, Diamond, Clover, Snake, Plus, Plus, Snake, Snake, Hex, Diamond, Clover, Plus, Diamond, Hex, Hex, Diamond, Plus, Diamond
Do this and get to the end to get a chromatic weapon core and a quest that will lead to the Exotic Fusion Rifle Bastion. You also get a touching eulogy from Saint-14 that changes based on your player’s gender and achievements.
I got that list from jaydenkieran on Reddit, but credit for this goes to…everyone. Gladd was kind of leading the charge by assembling info from a huge number of Guardians on the ever-evolving map, but other streamers and community members provided invaluable input as well.
The only weirdness here concerns Bastion, which is a strange sort of reward for such an epic, sprawling quest. Mostly I’m not sure how it’s going to be handled going forward: Bastion was already on the roadmap January 28, and so it’s at this moment unclear if the reward for the Corridors of Time is unlocking Bastion early, or if this quest is just standing in for the whole process at this point. We’ll know more soon.
Regardless of weirdness with the reward, it’s the journey that counts. Bungie managed to accomplish a few different goals with this: it was a massively complicated, difficult puzzle that not only required the concerted effort of an elite vanguard but also the participation of many more rank-and-file Guardians beyond that. And on top of that, it managed to be successfully vast but with a solution that was ultimately not onerous to input.
The mind-bendingly complex puzzle is a Destiny tradition at this point, but this feels like the best of them so far. It actually worked, unlike the Nioble Las puzzle, and it felt much more accessible to the average guardian than Outbreak Prime back in the day. Congratulations to all involved, and go get Bastion.
