There’s little question about the best free cosmetic here with Fortnite’s “Astronomical” Travis Scott concert. It’s the Astroworld cyclone glider, one of the new rideable gliders that you can use to coast down to the map in style: the other ones are fine, but a little less to write home about. The glider, however, isn’t part of any of the rewards that you get from completing the free challenges that went live this morning. Don’t worry: you won’t have to pay for it, unlike the Travis Scott skin set to go live soon. Here’s how to get it.
The Astroworld Cyclone glider will be a free reward for anyone that attends one of the concert events, so you’ve got a few chances to redeem it. All you’ll have to do is show up to one of five concerts in between Thursday and Saturday and you’ll get the glider in your locker. Whether or not your rock out it up to you, but rocking out is highly recommended.
This follows in a similar vein to the recent Star Wars event, which handed out a Tie Whisper glider to anyone that attended, despite technical issues with that one. It seems like part of a kind of an unofficial hierarchy of cosmetics, with skins at the top as an almost completely paid category, and things like banners and icon emotes at the bottom as easy giveaways. Gliders are big and flashy, but you only use them for brief moments in any given match.
This one is slick, however. It’s got a kind of wildness to it that fits right in with the new rideable gliders, and as Scott himself tweeted, it looks great with his skin. Man, is that a weird sentence:

The concerts start on Thursday night, and I bet most people are going to try to drop in as soon as possible to see what it’s all about. The five shows should hopefully cut down on some of the technical challenges of hosting an event on this scale, though player populations could easily go through the roof thanks to COVID-19-related lockdowns. Check back for more soon.
