Update 2: The event is over, but servers are still pretty spotty.
Update: Epic delayed the event by 10 minutes, but I still can’t get in.
Players attempting to log in to Fortnite ahead of a live event for Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker are having widespread trouble, it would seem. At 2:00 PM Eastern today, people are meant to be able to watch an exclusive scene for the new movie, but it’s about half an hour before the event is supposed to start and people aren’t able to log in to the game. Myself and other Forbes Games contributors have tried, and aren’t able to log in on any platform.
It would be a big deal for any event, but it’s especially bad for one that involves not just Fortnite but also Disney. Servers d not appear to be compeltely down, as there are some streamers playing the game and I’ve seen reports of people being able to play. But I’m also seeing widespread reports of technical problems and a big Twitter feed full of people unable to access the game in any way.
We’ll see how things develop: any major problems and Epic will likely want to give the free glider to everyone, regardless of whether or not they were logged in. A delay would be unprecedented, but not impossible.
