The Paris true wireless earbuds from Urbanista are compact, stylish and they sound great.
What is it about Sweden? This Nordic country with its social democratic tendencies has been incubating quite a few companies that design earbuds and headphones? Hardly a month goes by without yet another Swedish brand popping up with some stylish earbuds that usually manages to blend great performance with cool styling. Whether it’s meatballs, flatpack furniture, or earphones, the Swedes are on a roll right now.
The latest brand of earphones to turned up on my desk from Stockholm come from Urbanista. These Paris tue wireless earbuds are great examples of cool Swedish styling and they sonically capable too. The Paris earbuds feature what I call “EarPod” styling which means they look a bit like Apple AirPods. The pair I was sent for review were the Midnight Black finish, but Paris are also available in Fluffy Cloud, Rose Gold, and Olive Green.
The earbuds are housed in the cutest little storage case I’ve ever seen for a pair of true wireless earbuds. It’s hinged at the back and covered in what feels like a thin layer of neoprene that should be hard-wearing and resistant to scratching, unlike heard plastic. The pair of earbuds snuggle inside the case and will only fit into each charging cradle one way. This means you can never confuse left and right earpieces, which is handy as there’s no indication on either earbud which one is left, and which one is right.

The charging case can hold 15 hours of juice and a single charge of the earbuds provide up to five hours playing time before they need popping back in the case to be recharged. This means there’s potential total available playing time of up to 20 hours… 15 from the case and the 5 that are already in the earbuds. There’s a USB C charging port on the side of the case or the case can be charged wirelessly using any compatible QI wireless charger. A short USB charging cable is supplied in the box along with a selection of different-sized silicone ear-tips for the perfect fit.
Pairing up the earbuds with a smartphone is simple and only needs to be done once with each device it’s used with. From then on, every time the earbuds are taken out of their case, they automatically reconnect with the smartphone. And thanks to support for the higher quality AAC and apt-X audio codecs, the Paris earbuds play nicely with both iOS and Android devices.
Each earbud carries a discreet Urbanista logo on the ear-shell and that’s the area that needs to be pressed to operate the touch-sensitive controls. The touch-sensitive controls can adjust volume, handle phone calls, pause and play the music, as well as skip and repeat music tracks. The controls can even be to activate a voice assistant such as Siri or Google Assistant.

Built into each earbud is a microphone for making phone calls or talking to Siri or Google Assistant. The mics are good quality and I particularly liked the fact that phone calls are routed through both earbuds. A lot of true wireless earbuds only relay phone calls through one earbud, so it’s good to see these working in both ears.
When it comes to sound quality, the Urbanista Paris are seriously loud and yet mellow, with a gorgeously warm bass and a beautifully smooth treble. They remind me of the excellent Soundcore Life P2. I really like the tone of these cute earbuds even though there is a slight trace of background hiss coming from the amplification circuitry, but I didn’t notice the hiss for most of the time except during silent passages when listening in a room without any noise. It’s certainly not enough to spoil what is otherwise a stunningly good soundstage for the money.

As soon as the earbuds are placed back in their charging case, the Bluetooth signal to the Urbanista Paris is cut off and the battery in the case begins topping up the battery in each earpiece. The build quality is exemplary and the whole package feels stylish and well put together.
Verdict: These cute little true wireless earbuds sound heavenly and have a big presence with plenty of volume to spare. The bass is just gorgeous, and they fit comfortably in the ear too. There’s not much to dislike about the Urbanista Paris except perhaps the price which is a bit on the high side compared to the competition.
