Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing fans have been going a little nutty over the past couple of weeks, analyzing blurry artifacts from the background of screenshots in an attempt to glean what information they can, all the watching the clock on what became an uncharacteristically long gap between Nintendo Directs. It appears, however, that the wait is nearly over. There’s a Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow, February 20, and it’s going to have plenty of info for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
So, we’ll wait for 9:00 AM eastern time to get all the info we need about the slow-paced life simulator in advance of its March 20 release date. Expect a closer look at the new, island-themed game, with all of its aloha shirts and animal buddies ready to whisk you away to a place of calm, a place we all need here in 2020.
I’ve played Animal Crossing in the past, but I’ve never got all that deep into them. Mostly, the problem has been that my 3DS was never really in heavy rotation and it was always losing charge, making it a little bit tougher to plop down and harvest some fruit in the way that Animal Crossing: New Leaf demanded. I’m hoping that the flash memory with the Switch will make this significantly easier: that easy on, easy off has a way of changing my relationship to some games, particularly portable ones.
Stay tuned for more info tomorrow, and honestly this thing can’t get here soon enough. The slight dip in new releases early in the year has been nice, but I’m ready for things to get moving.
